Solution to Emissions Problem

Activating OBD2 Readiness Monitors (Readiness Codes)

Since the implementation of on-board diagnostic (OBD) testing at the Spanish MOT (Spanish Vehicle Inspection Service), simply not having a fault light on is no longer enough to pass the inspection. Technicians now connect a computer to your vehicle to read the " Readiness Monitors " or " Readiness Codes ."

If your vehicle has been modified for competition or has had systems disabled, these monitors may not be fully functional, resulting in a failure on the MOT. At Digi-
Tec offers an advanced software solution for these specific cases.

What are Readiness Codes?

Readiness monitors are a series of internal self-diagnostics that your car's ECU continuously performs on key emissions control systems. Each monitor corresponds to a specific system, such as:

• The catalyst
• The EGR valve
• Oxygen sensors (lambda probes)
• The fuel system
• The secondary air system

The status of each monitor can be:
• "Complete" or "Ready": The self-diagnosis has been executed and the system is functioning correctly.
• " Incomplete " or " Not Ready ": The self-test has not yet been completed.

The Problem: Why Aren't My Monitors "Full"?

A monitor may be in an "Incomplete" state for two main reasons:

1. After a Troubleshooting or Battery Disconnection:

Each time the DTCs are cleared or the battery is disconnected, all monitors are reset to "Incomplete."

To return to "Complete," the vehicle needs to complete a full "drive cycle" (a series of city and highway trips under specific conditions), which can be tedious and difficult to achieve.

2. By the Annulment of a System (The Key Case):

If a system in your vehicle has been electronically disabled (such as the DPF, catalytic converter, EGR, etc.), the corresponding monitor will never be able to successfully complete its self-diagnosis. Therefore, it will remain permanently in the "Incomplete" state.

At the MOT, a very limited number of "incomplete" monitors are allowed (usually one, or two in older cars). If this limit is exceeded, the inspection result will be unfavorable .

The Software Solution: Force the State to "Full"

Our service is a high-precision software modification that consists of
change the status bit of a specific monitor from "Incomplete" to "Complete" at the programming level.

This way, when a diagnostic tool (such as an MOT test tool) reads the status of the systems, the ECU will inform you that all self-diagnostics have been successfully completed, even if the physical component is not present or functional.

Main Application of the Service

This modification is the final and necessary step in vehicles that have undergone extensive modifications, mainly:

• Competition Vehicles: Where multiple emissions systems have been eliminated to maximize performance.

• After System Override: This is an essential addition after a DPF, catalytic converter, EGR, AdBlue, etc. override to ensure that the ECU report is consistent with the new programming.

Legal Notice and Warning of Use: VERY IMPORTANT!

Given the nature of this service, at Digi-Tec we are absolutely transparent about its implications:

Fraudulent and Illegally Useful Use: Using this modification to pass the Vehicle Inspection (ITV) with a vehicle that does not comply with the emissions regulations for which it was approved is illegal and may be considered fraud against the public administration.

Service Intended for Competition: This service is offered with the understanding that it will apply exclusively to vehicles intended for use on closed circuits,
or for export and use in countries where local emissions regulations permit.

Customer Responsibility: The vehicle owner assumes full legal responsibility for its use and compliance with applicable laws in their country. Digi-Tec and its dealer network carry out this modification under the assumption that the vehicle will not be used illegally on public roads.
